Management of palatal entrapment of mini-implant supported pendulum appliance: A case report

This case report describes the surgical management of mucosal entrapment a mini-implant-supported molar distalization appliance.A 17-year-old female patient was referred for removal implant-supported pendulum appliance entrapped in palatal mucosa, which is used by Department Orthodontics. The clinical findings suggested that overlying soft tissue non-inflammatory and occurred due to forceful impingement wire component on mucosa.Surgical intervention planned appliance. A V-shaped incision made under local anesthesia expose wire. Appliance completely removed, silk sutures were placed proper primary closure. Healing uneventful, with minimal discomfort.While there are risks associated orthodontic treatment fixed removable appliances, they can be avoided adopting required measures during educating patients about their responsibilities.
